Respawn finally move to solve game-breaking Apex Legends stuttering bug

Stuttering issues while playing Apex Legends on PC should soon be a thing of the past, as Respawn Entertainment has assured a fix in the next update.

If you’ve ever played Apex Legends on a high-end PC, chances are you’ve encountered a stuttering issue at one point or another. When playing at a fairly high frame rate, the game has a tendency to look choppy, potentially ruining your shot and holding you back.

This has been a fairly common issue over the years since Apex released. While there have been various temporary solutions in the past, the problem still remains in effect to this day.

As a result, many have resorted to just lowering the in-game FPS. Playing below the 180FPS mark appears to do the trick. However, PC players should be happy to hear that this game-breaking problem may soon be a thing of the past.

With recent complaints about the “microstutter bug” on Reddit, Respawn’s Lead Software Engineer Samy ‘ricklesauceur’ Duc chimed in.

The stuttering issue that has long plagued Apex Legends “should be gone after [the] next patch,” he confirmed. This means the gameplay experience on higher-end rigs should be smoother than ever once the next update is installed.

There’s currently no date locked in for the upcoming patch, and this fix appears to be exclusive to PC. For anyone experiencing similar micro-stutters on console, it remains to be seen when a broader patch will be deployed.

While this will allow for PC gamers to clear the 180FPS mark, it seems as though there will still be an FPS cap in place moving forward. Duc refused to comment further on the possibility of lifting Apex Legends’ current 300FPS cap.

This PC fix isn’t the only thing devs have been hard at work on since the Season 9 launch. Ranked Arenas and even Evo Shield changes have both been teased over recent weeks.

It certainly appears as though a big Apex Legends patch is imminent. Be sure to follow along at @alphaINTEL to keep up with all the latest news.
