Since its release in November 2018, Pokemon Let’s Go has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide! The newest Pokemon game is now the 5th best selling Nintendo Switch game!

Best Selling Nintendo Switch Games

The 10 million copies Pokemon Let’s Go has sold was confirmed by Nintendo within their investor relations pages. These sales figures go up to December 31, 2018. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that Pokemon Let’s Go sales have now far exceeded the 10 million mark.

The best selling Nintendo Switch game to date is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Switch’s most popular game has a big advantage on Let’s Go though, as it was released back in April 2017. Here are the top 5 selling Nintendo Switch games:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 15.02 million sales
  • Super Mario Odyssey 13.76 million sales
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 12.08 million sales
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 11.68 million sales

    Unfortunately it doesn’t show the numerous Pokemon games from before the Nintendo DS. However, we have listed the top 5 selling Pokemon games of all time in the link below.

    Combining the Nintendo Switch, 3DS and DS, we have the following sales figures for Pokemon games.

  • Pokemon Diamond and Pearl 17.67 million sales
  • Pokemon X and Y 16.37 million sales
  • Pokemon Sun and Moon 16.14 million sales
  • Pokemon Black and White 15.64 million sales
  • Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire 14.17 million sales

    • Notably, Pokemon Let’s Go is still quite far from these totals. Nevertheless, it has been released for less than two months so it will be interesting to see if it can break into this list.

    Pokemon Let’s Go Sequel

    Given the scepticism of some Pokemon fans on whether Let’s Go would be a success, Nintendo will be delighted with the 10 million sales it has accrued so far. Equally as delighted will be Pokemon fans who want a sequel to Pokemon Let’s Go!

    With the Switch’s first attempt at a Pokemon game being such a commercial success, the likelihood of an eventual sequel only increases. Consequently, a release date for a sequel is already rumored. Furthermore, there are hints to a sequel in the current game.
