CoD multiplayer has long been renowned for its active mini-map, allowing players to see where enemies and allies are and giving them an ever-present view of where they are on the map.

When Infinity Ward announced several weeks ago that Modern Warfare multiplayer would not feature a mini map, players didn’t know what to think. But that confusion turned to pure outrage when they got to try the beta on September 12.

In fact, the community became so vocal with their frustration, that not even 12 hours after the beta kicked off, the developers released a post addressing the controversy, as part of their effort to try and calm everyone down.

“Okay, let’s talk about minimap. We hear you loud and clear,” communications manager Ashton Williams said in the post on Reddit.

“Along with your feedback and the data we’re continuously collecting, we’ll be experimenting internally with a few different options and will keep you updated if we make any changes that you might see during the Beta,” she continued.

“This is an ongoing conversation with all of you, so again, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this topic and we’ll update you again when we have more information to share.”

While the minimap controversy was a major talking point coming out of the first day, Williams also revealed in her update post that the developers were taking a look at a number of other features, including updating spawn points, and patching minor graphical bugs.

Players had encountered a number of connectivity issues in the beta, including problems partying up with teammates and connecting online or to their PSNID. They also faced issues with enemy footstep noises, incorrect calling cards, and visual bugs surrounding level caps.

The Infinity Ward communications manager confirmed the developers had made notes of all of these ongoing problems, and were looking to provide solutions to them as the beta continues.

The Modern Warfare closed beta is set to run for another two days, before entering an open access period on PlayStation 4 from September 14-16.
