How to avoid the Mini Shield delay in Fortnite
Reddit users have shared a new way to avoid the delay when drinking Mini Shields in Fortnite after the presumed glitch reared its head again following the latest patch.

For some unknown reason, a bug that stopped players drinking two Small Shield Potions in quick succession found its way into the game back in September. It was eventually patched but seems to have returned following one of the late October updates.
Luckily, one pioneering member of the FortniteCompetitive subreddit has shared a way to work around the delay until Epic Games fixes it or announces that it was an intended change.

In a post titled ‘Best way to avoid Mini Shield delay consistently’, jmzofficial showed that negating the delay is as simple as walking backwards slightly just as you are about to finish drinking your first Small Shield Potion.

“You can also quickly change weapons then go back to the mini shield if you don’t want to walk back,” another user, JrGtazky, said in response to the original post.
But jmzofficial believes that his technique is slightly quicker: “Yeah I’m aware of that method, though I feel like it might be slower. I can’t quite tell.”
One thing that most the Reddit users in the responses agreed on, though, was that delay shouldn’t be an issue in the first place.
The walking backwards trick should server you well for the time being, but you might not have to put up with the glitch for much longer – Fortnite patch v6.21 will release on Thursday, November 1 and could well include another fix.
